UBS Power Lunch
|
| <<back
Stark School was chosen as the pilot school in Stamford to participate
in this corporate sponsored literacy program administered by the
Everybody Wins! Foundation in NYC and the Stamford Public Education
Foundation in Stamford. UBS corporate volunteers partner
with our Stark School students in a one-to-one lunchtime relationship.
Once a week, each volunteer and their student meet in our Media
Center to read aloud, eat lunch, and share conversation. We presently
have nearly 100 students and an equal amount of volunteers involved
in this program. Both volunteers and students involved come away
with a pleasant and rewarding experience of sharing time and ideas,
while our students develop better listening and vocabulary skills,
our volunteers reinforce that reading is fun, and our students
are
exposed to new and interesting conversations with corporate volunteers
about their work and travels.
This year our program is expanding and
will be administered through the Stamford Public Education Foundation
in conjunction with Everybody Wins! Perhaps your child would benefit
from such a relationship.
