The Stark School PFO (Parent/Guardian Faculty Organization) is a not-for-profit group of dedicated parents/guardians, along with teachers, administrators and staff whose purpose is to aid the students, faculty and staff of Julia A. Stark Elementary School in their educational and recreational needs. We coordinate family and fundraising activities to promote an open communication between the administration, faculty, parents and the community, to enhance our children's educational environment.
Through various fundraisers and private grants throughout the school year, the PFO is able to augment the Board of Education's Stark School budget. We provide Stark students (including those who can't afford admission) with field trips to many great places and cultural enrichment performances at school. Fundraising also allows us to pay for refreshments and decorations at 5th Grade Moving Up ceremonies, concerts and Flag Day celebrations, as well as providing ribbons for Field Day events, in-school magazine subscriptions and many other extras that enhance the learning environment for our students.
The PFO is the worthwhile organization that is behind many of the fun and enriching events that take place at Stark throughout the year. Some of the events we host are the Welcome Dinner, Kindergarten Welcome and Orientation, Bingo Night, Book Fair, Mother's Day Plant Sale, Dr. Seuss's Birthday Reading Event, and many others. We also coordinate our annual yearbook, monthly newsletter “The Stark Star”, Stark Spiritwear, school pictures, Staff Luncheon, and Teacher Appreciation Week events.
Monthly PFO meetings are usually held at Stark School. Check our school calendar for updates.
