Dr. Lisa Armstrong - Principal
Dr. Lisa Armstrong began her SPS career as a literacy support specialist at Roxbury Elementary School from 2001 to 2009, and served as Elementary Literacy Coach at Newfield Elementary School from 2009 to 2014. She was the Curriculum Associate for Elementary Literacy in the SPS Central Office from 2014 to 2018 and served two stints as the District’s Coordinator of Talent Acquisition and Development from 2018 to 2020 and from 2021 to 2022. Dr. Armstrong was the teacher leader for Student Support at Julia A. Stark Elementary in 2020-2021 and returned to Stark as Assistant Principal in 2023. Armstrong earned a Bachelors in Marketing from Central Connecticut State University, a Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Bridgeport, a Sixth Year Certificate in Remedial Reading from the University of Bridgeport, and a PhD in Educational Leadership from Capella University. She has professional certifications in K-6 Elementary Education (CT 013) and Grade 1-12 Remedial Reading and Language Arts (CT102) and K-12 Intermediate Administration or Supervision (CT 092).
Iuliana Roata - Assistant Principal
Iuliana Roata began her SPS career in 2005 as a second grade teacher at Stillmeadow Elementary School. She was Stillmeadow’s BOE Reading Teacher from 2013-16 and the school’s SRBI Coach in 2016-17. She was named Administrative Intern at Stillmeadow in 2017 and has been an Assistant Principal there since 2021. Mrs. Roata earned a Bachelor of Arts from Al. I. Cuza University in Iasi, Romania, a Masters of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Bridgeport, and both a Sixth Year Degree in Advanced Studies in Literacy, CLSP and a Certificate in Advanced Studies in Administration from Sacred Heart University. She has professional certifications in K-6 Elementary Education (CT 013), 1-12 Remedial Reading and Language Arts (CT 102), K-12 Reading and Language Arts Consultant (CT 097) and K-12 Intermediate Administration or Supervision (CT 092). Mrs. Roata served as an Adjunct Professor at Sacred Heart University from 2019 to 2023. She received the SPS Spotlight on Teaching Award in 2016.
